About Beauty By Makenna
Hey everyone!
My name is Makenna and I am born and raised here in the beautiful Napa Valley! I have been a licensed cosmetologist working professionally behind the chair since 2021, but have been involved in the industry for far longer. My passion and interest for the beauty space started when I was very young, being that my mother is in the hair industry. I would always go to her salon after school and found myself always fascinated watching her with her clients, whether it was hair being shampooed, or hair being curled it immediately sparked an interest and was something I was completely fascinated in. I knew this was more than just a fascination or a hobby of mine, it was my calling.
Soon after, I discovered the world of YouTube and beauty tutorials. With watching tutorials, I taught myself everything from how to braid my own hair, or use a curling iron, to learning about different makeup tools and products, and even how to paint my own nails-etc. In high school, I was on a competitive dance team, which gave me even more opportunities to dive into hair and makeup for performances and competitions. It was never a question for me about what I wanted to do after high school, I knew that cosmetology was the path for me.
In 2019, I started my cosmetology school journey right after high school and that further ignited my passion and creativity for hair and was turning my career dreams into a reality.
When I’m not behind the chair, you’ll usually find me spending time with my sweet 4 year old yellow Lab, soaking up quality time with family, or playing tourist exploring Napa Valley’s beautiful scenery and sipping on some of the best Napa Valley wines with friends!
I truly love what I do. For me, it’s not just about great hair and makeup(though I’m all about that, too!) — it’s about creating a space where anyone that sits in my chair feels comfortable, seen, and leaves feeling like the absolute best version of themselves.
I’m so grateful for the amazing clients who have trusted me with their beauty journey so far — you mean the absolute world to me and I truly would not be who I am without you. I take so much pride in the relationships and connections I have built in the salon.
